Some tips for painting exciting and creative window splashes
Here are the bare basics.......

THE BASICS:
Sketch out the design with a china marker or white stabilo

Using 3 inch foam trim rollers
'Base' out the initial design with white, flat, latex house paint.

When that is dry , sketch lightly with artist's charcoal
to define where the colors will go...

Over that roll the colors in flouresant temperas or acrylics if a more natural color range is desired.

Most all of the windows I do as well as the details are done entirely with foam trim rollers.

BLENDING & SHADING:

For details and blending of colors roll out the paint on a smooth surface (like cardboard scraps) and double load the roller with color.

Shading and contures are defined with the roller to which tints have beed added

Highlights are added in the same way....

The finished work is trimmed with a razorblade,
and then outlined with black acrylic

Lastly, finer details i.e. whiskers, highlights in the eyes, pupils, etc
are done with a fine brush

WATERPROOFING:
If the work is exposed to rain it should be sprayed with a clear enamel.
